I Wish he Was Still Alive

The Poem below was written several years after my father passed away from throat cancer. It was written in June 1997

 The years pass by
and the pain is still there
It is no as strong or as rampant as at first
It doesn’t get easier it seems to remain the same at certain times

You wish he was here
So you could share
In his great knowledge and wisdom once again
So you could ask for guidance
or so you could just talk

The more you think about him the more you wish he was here
So you could hear them talk and laugh with you.

But inside you know that you are the way you are because of him
He guided you and molded you to be like him
He gave you your values and your views.

Therefore he will always be part of you
And will Always be with you
Because parts of him are inside you forever.

The Knight

The Mist closes around him
As he awaits to see what is looming in the shadows
He stands with sword in hand, ready.
Waiting for the right time to attack

The wait grows longer and longer as the mist grows thicker
Finally he can wait no more and lunges in the shadows
Wielding his sword in a frenzy
The two foes meet.

One is dressed in silver the other in black

The sound of metal on metal begins to ring
The sounds of battle are know echoing through the midnight sky

The battle rages on through the night
With no sign of either foe tiring.

Finally the battle ends and the mist slowly lifts
But yet you can not see who won;
The light gets brighter as the sky rises towards the heavens
Now all you see is a suit of armor hanging in a tree looking down
And on the ground you see a man with his own sword stuck in his side.

Mattis Man Weekend

Mattis had another exiting weekend
We went to visit Bob, Cass and Kyle at thre new house.
Mattis and Kyle played together to the best of their abilites Kyle showed Mattis some of his stuff
Mattis had his first taste of Pizza wll at least the dough at Tomato Sauce ... he loved it.
Kyle thought Mattis needed some stuff from the diaper bag so he brought them to him in the high chair.

We then went for a walk and the Mattis fell asleep in the stroller it amazes how he can fall asleep and stay asleep as the stroller bounces through a trail over roots and ruts.

On Sunday Mattis went to his first Charity event in support of Haiti at our Church in Burford he loved wiggling to the music of Murray Williams.  Murray is a country singer from Burford.

Then on Sunday afternoon we went to look at some open houses of one of the builder in Paris East Forest Homes.  He enjoyed looking around at all the mirrors that were in some of them.

We are likely going to go with a townhouse through them come August just need to get our house ready to list ... that will be fun

Sleep would be a Great Asset

I enjoy the little guy but sleep would be a wonderful thing
The past few nights the little guy has decided he doesn't want to sleep through the night anymore
This morning he decided 4AM was a great time to start his day and cried in his crib till 5AM at that point after frustration I tried a bottle and he slept till 6:15.  But that wasn't the only problem after that the page from work decided that it was its turn to squawk its useless warnings about stuff that isn't the end of the world

So hopefully I can stay awake at work .... Coffee is a wonderful invention ... look out world here comes the coffee IV.

The World Around Me has changed

Over the past few years the world around me has changed I have gotten married had a son.

This all good but part of me would love to get away from all this technology and fast paced life we live in a world far different from our parents and from different from when were kids.

I just wonder what it is going to be like when my son gets to my age.
When I was his age the computer was still in a large room and wasn't portable that is for sure.
My cell phone has more memory than that fabled Commodore VIC 20 that was our first computer.  It had a whopping 4KB of Memory my cell phone has 512MB over a 1000 times as powerful just in memory alone and I can do ten times more with my phone.

I am in the computer industry and it still amazes me how it has changed.   But always look back at whrere it has been since History is something I really enjoy.
